We all have anticipated the release of Skylanders Superchargers for IOS/Apple devices. Last year we got the chance to play a full version of Skylanders Trap Team that could be played on your favorite console and Apple device. Well this year Activision is kicking it up a notch by introducing real-time online multiplayer gameplay with Skylanders Superchargers. The new release not only allows players be able to take the game on the go, but now we will also be able to play online against other Apple users.
Take a look at the press release below for more details. Until next time I’ll catch you on the SKYSIDE!
November 9, 2015 – Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI), announced today that Skylanders®, the pioneers of the toys-to-life category, will further the company’s leadership in the mobile arena with Skylanders SuperChargers‘ launch on iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Apple TV. The Skylanders SuperChargers AAA game experience with console-quality graphics* is now available for compatible iPad, and for the first time ever, select iPhone and iPod touch devices, as well as the new Apple TV. Developed by Vicarious Visions, Skylanders SuperChargers for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Apple TV presents even more value to fans with a new save feature using iCloud, offering seamless continuity across the Apple ecosystem. Players can simply log into their iCloud account, and the game will save its progress to iCloud automatically. Now, fans can enjoy Skylanders SuperChargers with ease and flexibility, starting the game in their bedrooms on the iPad or iPod touch, picking it up where they left off in the living room on the Apple TV and then taking it on the road in the backseat of mom’s car on their iPhone.
For the first time, Portal Masters can compete in four-person online multiplayer racing or two-person co-op adventure between devices through Apple’s Game Center. Players on Apple TV can also engage with others online who are on iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
“Last year, fans loved how they could play the same incredible game on iPad as on other platforms. This year we are giving Portal Masters even more ways to play their favorite game as we expand Skylanders SuperChargers to Apple TV, iPhone and iPod touch,” said Josh Taub, senior vice president of product management for Skylanders at Activision. “Fans are able to play Skylanders SuperChargers on the compatible Apple platform of their choice, whenever and wherever they want.”

Portal owners can download the app for free, play the first level and purchase the full game digitally.
“Skylanders took the toys-to-life industry one step further when they brought their game to iPad last year,” says Laurie Schacht, co-publisher of The Toy Insider. “By bringing this year’s game to Apple TV, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, Activision is enabling fans to play Skylanders SuperChargers in a truly compelling way on the platforms they’re on. This is the kind of magic we’ve seen consistently from the franchise since Skylanders created a brand new way for kids to play with their toys.”

The Apple TV Siri Remote also can be used by players who download the game and experience the first level for free, or by players who buy the full digital version of the game through the In-App Purchase.

As we know the villains are back in the new game with a twist. Check out the article I posted with all the info straight from Activision here. Thanks to my Aussie mate Justin for sharing these images with me so that I could share them with you. There are many familiar faces coming back like Chef Pepper Jack and Wolfgang but there are some villains we haven’t seen before like Spellslamzer, which has me excited to play this game even more! You can see the images in the gallery below hope you enjoy them. Until next time catch you on the SKYSIDE!
Yesterday was one busy day lots of images and gameplay videos have popped up everywhere. I have to say that I am rather excited to see what Skylanders Superchargers brings to the table. The figures look amazing! I would say that they are probably the best looking figures thus far, which is a + for me. Adding a playable element to the vehicles is also a nice touch younger kids will go crazy with articulation being thrown into the mix. Visually it looks great! The gameplay footage that has surfaced has me ready to get my drive on, but am I the only one feeling like I need more? Before I go crazy with my thoughts here is a break down of everything I know so far thanks to the press release sent to me from Activision, who by the way also provided all the images you see in the article as well.
Skylanders SuperChargers features a brand-new class of heroes, called SuperChargers who are distinct with fresh moves, powerful attacks and all-new weapons. These SuperChargers also have special in-game abilities that help Portal Masters fight Kaos. Twenty new SuperChargers character toys and 20 new vehicle toys will be available.
So it looks like we will have a total of 40 new toys to add to our ever-growing collections. The new vehicle toys have replaced the Trap crystals this go around. Which leaves me and most of you with a pretty big question what happened to the Traps? Can we still use them? Well according to the release all 300+ toys are compatible, but it doesn’t say anything specifically about the traps.
Players will have the ability to customize all vehicles in-game with super cool modifications and upgradeable weapons. For the ultimate gameplay experience, players can pair a SuperCharger Skylander with its signature vehicle to create a SuperCharged combination, unlocking an exclusive mod that revs up the performance of both the vehicle and character. Not only are the vehicles playable in the game, but also many feature moving parts, making them fun to play with outside of the game. Additionally, Skylanders SuperChargers supports all 300+ Skylanders toys from previous games, enabling all Skylanders characters to pilot land, sea or sky-based vehicles.
Unfortunately the Traps are not used as they are in Trap Team they are instead magic items used to super charge your vehicles. I think this is a big bummer, but I can see the reasoning. I would have loved to trap new villains or use the trapped villains in the new game some how (insert sad face here) at least we get Skystones of them right?
The game’s storyline focuses on Kaos’ latest attempt to rule Skylands. In his efforts to take down the Skylanders, Kaos has unleashed his most sinister weapon ever – a massive “Doomstation of Ultimate Doomstruction” capable of eating the sky itself! Fortunately, Master Eon has seen the warning signs and assembled a special team of Skylanders to pilot an unstoppable fleet of land, sea and sky vehicles with the power to travel through the reign of destruction to stop Kaos!
At the helm of powerful, tricked-out land, sea and sky vehicles, Portal Masters can engage in a high-octane action-adventure videogame like never before. Kids can speed across Skylands’ roads in vehicular combat, race down roaring rapids and engage in aerial dogfights as they barrel-roll through enemy swarms for the first time. Developed by Vicarious Visions, Skylanders SuperChargers offers a rich story-driven gameplay experience, filled with vehicle-based and on-foot adventures, combat, puzzles, mini games, activities and platforming, set within a variety of all-new compelling environments.
The storyline seems interesting Kaos is back at it as usual and he isn’t alone according to the article I read over at Polygon. They got a chance to see a walk through demo of the game with Vicarious Visions Senior Executive Producer David Nathanielsz. Check out the article and read more about their experience.
The Skylanders need to retrieve the Thunderous Bolt, which is located in the Cloud Kingdom. But the ruler of the area, Lord Stratosfear, has made a deal with Kaos, so our heroes will need to defeat Kaos’ forces to secure the item they’re seeking.
The Cloud Kingdom lives up to its name, with thick mist obscuring much of the area and dissipating as you walk through it. You’ll have to blow on storm horns placed throughout the level to clear the clouds away.
It’s a beautiful place, evoking the utopias of antiquity with verdant terraces, hanging gardens and Ionic columns. And the dialogue is written in the vein of the best cartoons, with references and commentary that will fly over kids’ heads. The people of the Cloud Kingdom are the one-percenters of the Skylands. One character notes that Lord Stratosfear “never trusted the underclass” before quickly stating, “No offense to you, of course.” After you’ve cleaned up the level, that same individual says you’re “a credit to your people.”
Yes! Another villain, don’t get me wrong I love kicking some Kaos butt, but it nice to see another villain maybe we will have to defeat him as well I for one wouldn’t mind knocking Lord Stratosfear out of the stratosphere! On another note it seems Toys R Us will once again be the place to find the best selection of Skylanders merchandise.
“Since first partnering with Activision to bring the original Skylanders® Spyro’s Adventure to our stores, we have believed whole-heartedly in the magic and innovation of this brand, as well as the company’s ability to re-imagine and redefine play experiences with the toys-to-life concept,” said Richard Barry, Global Chief Merchandising Officer, Toys”R”Us, Inc. “With each new introduction, Activision never disappoints its highly loyal fans of the franchise, and we are thrilled to continue to offer the broadest assortment of all Skylanders® merchandise, including the newly introduced Skylanders SuperChargers.”
I haven’t been disappointed in the past with much besides how well shelves have been stocked, yet that still hasn’t hurt this franchise. In the beginning just about every major big box retailer had jumped on the Skylanders train. We could find them pretty much anywhere there where variants galore. Now it seems that the only stores that keep them stocked or is in the chase race is Target and TRU with Walmart trying to stay in the race but is falling way behind. So my question is will we see more stores carrying the figures and game again? Will we have more variants, chase figures, etc. this go around?
This year there is so much competition in the Toys to Life category it is enough to make one get dizzy with all the new games, apps, etc. I have been wondering how Activision is feeling about the competition especially with how well Amiibos have been doing and the LEGO brand stepping into the ring. Well it doesn’t seem like they are to concerned as they are the creators and leaders of the genre, which they kindly reiterate every chance they get.
“We created the toys-to-life category and have continued to lead it by bringing new innovations and new magic to the genre with each and every game. First we brought action figures to life, and now we’re bringing vehicles to life with Skylanders SuperChargers,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. “We love making these games because in order to do it well, you have to constantly tap into your inner kid. What kid hasn’t imagined epic vehicles with amazing powers and dreamed about the adventures they could have with them? Skylanders SuperChargers makes those dreams real.”
I like how they are now trying to brand “vehicles to life” with this new release. It has me wondering what else we can expect Activision and it’s companies to bring to life? I will say one of the things that has kept Skylanders around is the way it appeals to children. They have a formula that has been working for quite some time now cater to the kids and they will come, but I wonder what happens when those kids grow up and want there favorite Skylanders to grow with them? Will we get a more edgy game then? One that caters to not only children, but older collectors and gamers as well?
We can expect to see the game released on every platform as it has been in the past, but the game experience will be different for Wii and 3DS players.
Fans can pre-order Skylanders SuperChargers Starter Packs beginning on June 3 at select retail destinations worldwide for the suggested retail price of $74.99 in North America, which includes two new Skylanders characters, a first-of-its kind Skylanders vehicle, newly designed Portal of Power®+ and the full AAA game. Skylanders SuperChargers will be available on Xbox 360™ and Xbox One™video game and entertainment systems from Microsoft, PlayStation® 3 and PlayStation® 4 computer entertainment systems, Nintendo’s Wii U™ system, and a different, unique adventure will be made available on Nintendo’s Wii™ system and the Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system. Additionally, the complete Skylanders SuperChargers experience will be available on iPad®. The game will be available on September 20 in North America, September 24 in Australia/New Zealand; and on September 25 in Europe.
Has anyone else noticed the game is coming out in September as opposed to the regular October release date? I suppose the decision was made to compete with all the other Toys To Life games coming out. Although the full experience was only mentioned for iPad I assume it will also be available for Andriod at some point as well (fingers crossed). I know some of you are annoyed that there is another portal being introduced, but don’t fret there is good news thanks again to the article from Polygon.
For the first time Activision is offering a digital Portal Owners Pack for those of you that don’t want to purchase another portal. The pack will include in-game versions of Hot Streak and Super Shot Stealth Elf, and of course a downloadable version of the game for only $49.99, which I think is pretty cool having the option to buy or not buy the new portal. I wonder what the Wii and 3DS storyline will be like? Is Beenox again behind the wheel on these versions? I think they did a good job with Trap Team so I’m curious to know if they were given another shot.
Now here is something that should have you all jumping for joy! According to the Best Buy pre-order link we will finally be getting an on-line experience! Check out the image below thanks to Ziotec for the heads up!
I am over excited to be able to play online with all of you I’ll share all my gamer tags so that we can stay connected when the game gets closer to release. We now have a better understanding of what to expect with the release, but I still have a few questions. For instance will there be another Dark Starter Pack and who will be included? How many figures will there be per element? Even though dark and light elements are not in the new logo they are in the background of the image so we know they will be included, but will Knightmare and Knightlight return? Will we get reposes of Blacklight and Spotlight? I guess we will just have to wait and see. The HDR Room always puts together awesome Skylanders articles and they recently posted a 4 pt preview full of images and info check it out here.
I think I have covered just about everything up until this point I hope you all have gotten your fill. What questions do you have? Sound off in the comments section or on our social media accounts. I would love to hear what you all are thinking. When I find out more details, which I’m sure we will get a bunch of juicy stuff at E3, I will do an update post to keep us all in the loop. Can’t wait to pre-order your copy? Get it right here. If you haven’t seen the promo video featuring Travis Pastrana; which I don’t know why it’s everywhere! Check it out below. Until next time I’ll catch you on the SKYSIDE!
As I have said now for a few weeks that the new game is going to have a vehicle aspect to it. I have seen screen shots from computers and various other things stating that the new Skylanders game will indeed be called Skylanders Superchargers. Today Amazon leaked a bit more info about the game and it has the Skylanders Fans going crazy! (See images below).
Many sadly have said they will not be buying the new game because of the Vehicles being added. I think that this is going to be a great game I am very interested to see how Vicarious Visions handles this installment. A few questions have come to mind like, will all the figures be compatible now that vehicles are being introduced? Will we finally be getting an online multi-player function? (God I hope so) What will happen to the Traps? Will we still be able to play with our favorite villains? Will all of this tracking down traps be all in vain? I seriously hope not that would really suck! If traps are still playable in this game I wonder how the traps and vehicles would interact?
I really do hope that the vehicles don’t take away from the adventure style gameplay we have been accustom to. With so many new Toys To Life titles coming out this year many of us are scrambling trying to pick a side for some strange reason. Why pick sides there is enough room for all the titles and from my experience playing all the other titles they all bring something new to the genre.
I remember when Infinity first hit the scene tons of people were saying they were getting out and into infinity. A nice amount of those same people came back to Skylanders that tells you something. I am going to wait until I see gameplay of the game and review the new game before I make my decision on this being a good or bad game. I could never just stop playing Skylanders I have invested way to much time into this franchise to hop on the bandwagon and jump ship (such a Kaos thing). I’ll be a Skylanders supporter until the game is no more and even after because that is what loyal fans do.
I hope that there are more people out there that are excited about this game than not, but if not I’m not worried you will be back the SKYSIDE always wins.
Update: No release date or pre-orders available yet. Did not show console listings for XBOX One or PS4. Link has been taken down.
I went to collect the mail and noticed I had a surprise package from Activision I didn’t know what it was, but boy was I stoked to see what it was when I opened the package. Check out what was inside…
Yes! Love Potion Pop Fizz the official Valentine’s Day Skylanders Toy for Skylanders Trap Team. So have you been wondering how Pop Fizz turned into Love Potion Pop Fizz? Well I happen to have to scoop…
It is said that when his latest attempt to concoct the ultimate raspberry soda totally backfired, Pop Fizz was caught in a blast that turned him pink and gave him an alluring aroma. At least that’s how he tells it. But with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, the Skylanders are wondering if Pop Fizz is telling the truth… or if there is a special someone who he is trying to impress.
I wonder who Pop Fizz could be trying to get some affection from? Guess we will have to wait and see. Currently Target is the only retailer with it shelved, but Best Buy will release him on 02/01 and Toys R Us on 02/07. For all our UK readers he can also be pre-ordered at your local GAME store. Good Luck Hunting! Until next time catch you on the SKYSIDE!
Evening Skylander Addicts! Got a bit of info for our UK readers.
After a call from my friend who works at Toys R Us today I flew straight over to grab myself a bargain, get some images, and info to share with you all!
The first thing I noticed at my local store was that there was a nice amount of light and dark element packs in stock. If you still need one contact your local store you may get lucky. They also have a ton of traps in stock as you can see in the image.
I then saw that the Skylanders Swap Force Island Fun-Play Hide-Away Play-sets are on clearance at £17.99 that is a steal! The Swap Force Flynn’s Airship Play-set is £14.99 another great bargain if you’re looking for one!!
The best deal of the day for me was being able to take advantage of the 7 inch Android Swap Force Tablet sale. They are on clearance for ONLY £19.99!!! Such a great deal I had to grab one for me self and the wife.
You can get the play sets online at toysrus.co.uk, but the Tablet deals are in store only so call around to see if there are anymore in stock in your area. Be quick because once they are gone they are gone! Good Luck and Happy Hunting! Hope you can get out there and grab yourself a bargain.
As I mentioned in the last post this years easter edition figures have been revealed. According to myskylanders.de and darkspyro.net user Chaotic Lunacy we can expect another villain variant trap this easter. Red Hot Tussle Sprout is said to be a TRU exclusive with a release date of March 2, 2015. Also there will be an “Easter Edition” figure pack including Power Punch Pet-Vac, Eggscellent Weeruptor, and an exclusive Earth Easter Trap.
Chaotic Lunacy states that Red Hot Tussle Sprout will be the included trap in the easter edition pack, but myskylanders.de states that Red Hot will be its own trap and an exclusive Easter Edition earth trap will be included in the figure pack. The easter edition rings up at 10.99, but I am thinking that the $10.99 price is for the Exclusive Variant Trap with RHTS and not the easter edition figure packs. I think that the earth trap will be a separate trap much like the Legendary Traps (no trapped villain just an easter colored trap) included with Power Punch and Weeruptor.
The release date is also March 2, 2015 at TRU for Power Punch Pet-Vac and Eggscellent Weeruptor so get ready folks cause it’s about to be on!I project that these will go fast just like the other easter edition figures that have been released in the past. Are you as excited about this as I am? I sure hope so! Keep an eye out for the easter edition figure packs as they may get an early release by another store trying to beat TRU to the punch. Enjoy the rest of the images in the gallery and until next time I’ll catch you on the SKYSIDE!
Got some awesome news from the folks over at myskylanders.de. Today they released a complete list of what we can expect to see hit stores when wave 4 comes and I’m pretty amped about a few things that are coming. Since their site is in German I took the liberty of translating it for you guys as best I could so here it goes.
We are looking at a projected date of wave 4 being released sometime in March. I’m not sure if that is the US release or if that is the projected date for overseas Portal Masters, but either way that’s good news to me. Looks like there will be six core Skylanders coming in wave 4 included are:
- Echo-Water Element
- Rocky Roll-Earth Element
- Spotlight- Light Element
- Blackout-Dark Element
- High Five-Life Element
- Batspin-Undead Element
Glad to see we will finally see High Five and Batspin hit US stores I’m super pumped to get my hands on Spotlight and Blackout they look awesome and I bet they play just as well as they look if not better. Two of the most anticipated Skylanders Trap Masters will finally be making appearance in this wave along with Single pack versions of the Light and Dark Trap Masters.
- Short Cut
I just realized about a week ago that Short Cut was a Trap Master. I was already excited to add him to my collection when I first saw him, but after finding out he was a Trap Master I wanted him even more. Thunderbolt looks so BOSS he is definitely a must have for me I want to see how well he plays his attacks look sick! We will be seeing another wave of traps as well included are:
- Rocket Light Trap
- Rocket Magic Trap
- Sword Shadow Trap
- Sword Air Trap
- Sword Life Trap
- Upside Down Guy Shadow Trap
- Upside Down Guy Earth Trap
- Spear Fire Trap
- Spear UndeadTrap
- Axe Water Trap
- Kaos Trap
Also listed are 2 Triple Pack Trap Packs do not know what will included in the packs, but I’m sure it will be the same as it has been released in earlier waves as a way to save a little cash and get more traps. Those of you that do not have a Kaos trap (I need another one) will have another chance at getting this hard to get trap before it becomes unavailable again. I’m sure there will be more Kaos traps in the wave but you still will want to get to your local stores early when they go on sale.
There are two new mini packs coming as well included in these packs are:
- Pet Vac (Jet-Vac)-Air Element
- Breeze (Whirlwind)-Air Element
- Barkley (Tree Rex)-Life Element
- Whisper Elf (Stealth Elf)-Life Element
We will also see more of Mini Pack 5 (Gill Runt & Thumpling) and Mini Pack 6 (Small Fry & Weeruptor). There are some things expected to be released as well but not in wave 4 they will have their own separate releases or come in a mini wave. We already know about Nitro Head Rush, Legendary Bush Whack, and Love Potion Pop Fizz, but who else is coming? Here is a list of things we should see from now until at least April.
- Flip Wreck
- Fling Kong
- Triple Pack (Deja Vu / Rocky Roll / echo)
- Triple Pack (Blackout / Fling Kong / Pop Fizz)
- King Cobra Cadabra
- Gnarly Barkley
- Yawn Trap
- Praise Goblin (Trap Variant)
- Steampunk Shrednought (Trap Variant)
- Eon’s Elite: Eruptor & Gill Grunt
I’m glad to see Gear Shift will be getting another run she is still around in some stores, but it will make her more available for those of us that haven’t gotten her yet (I need another one of her too lol). I so hope Enigma comes out in a mini wave-like a 4.5 or something I have to have him on my portal asap! Also mentioned in the article are the Easter Edition Trap Team figures, but I’m going to do a separate post about these as I feel they deserve to have a post just about them. I do not have an exact release date on any of this stuff just projected dates or a figure and trap case break down or anything like that, but when I get the info trust and believe I’ll be letting you know. Take a minute to show us some love on our social sites I love to see what new things you all are adding to your collections, game tips, or just shoot the breeze (Pun intended). Thanks to MySkylanders.De for giving us this awesome info. Happy Hunting All! Until next time catch you on the SKYSIDE!

I wanted to give you guys a heads upon the release dates for legendary Bush Whack & Love Potion Pop Fizz. Rumor has it that Legendary Bush Whack will be released at Toys R Us stores on February 15, 2015. Love Potion Pop Fizz is said to be released February 7, 2015 I’m sure he will be released everywhere as he is an in-game variant. I have all the other legendary figures so I’m hyped to complete the set.
LP Pop Fizz is just too cute I plan on customizing one and flocking it. This info was spotted on DarkSpyro.com posted by DS user Chaotic Lunacy said to have come from a reliable source.
Guess we will have to see if he is right when the time comes. Until next time catch you on the SKYSIDE!
