Today Apple announced that there is a new Apple TV coming to a retailer near you. This version of Apple TV is pretty sweet in my opinion the touch screen function is an awesome feature, but the gaming feature really has me ready to spend my money.
If you say the presentation you saw that Guitar Hero Live is coming to Apple TV this fall. What you may not know is that Guitar Hero isn’t the only title from Activision that will be available. Along with Guitar Hero Live, Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved and Skylanders Superchargers will be coming to Apple TV and other Apple devices this Fall.
Since the announcement Activision has been asked many questions and has released a press release giving us a little more information about the news. It isn’t much most we already know as far as Skylanders goes, but below I included the info shared in the release.
Activision can confirm that Guitar Hero Live is coming to the newly announced Apple TV, as well as iPhone, iPad and iPod touch this fall. People will be able to play in their living room with Apple TV and take their game on the go with iPhone or iPad, as the Bluetooth Guitar controller works across Apple devices.
Guitar Hero Live was built from the ground up to bring the rock star fantasy to life in a way that was never possible before, with live action film, real crowds that react to how you play and the world’s first playable music video network. Guitar Hero is and has always been a global phenomenon, so the game was designed to reflect the way people consume entertainment today.Jamie Jackson, co-studio head and creative director at FreeStyleGames, is pretty stoked:
“We jumped at the opportunity to bring back Guitar Hero in a cool new way with
Guitar Hero Live and have been energized by the response from fans who have had a chance to play it so far. We can’t wait for the game to launch next month and think people are going to get a kick out of living their rock star fantasy on consoles, mobile devices and Apple TV this fall. It’s going to be rad!”
Activision can also confirm that two other Activision games –

I think this is awesome for us Apple users we can play on every Apple platform except Desktops. It will be cool to be able to go from one device to the next. You could be gaming out on your console have to leave just snatch your tablet or phone and go. Siblings hogging the computer no worries just turn on Apple TV and get Supercharged. I am interested in seeing the gameplay on the different devices will it match up to the console version? We only have little while longer to find out! Until next time catch you on the SKYSIDE!
I was going through my timeline and I noticed that Portal Master Andrew Azalea tagged me in a link to an article discussing the new release of Skylanders slated to be released in 2015. According to VideoGamer the new game will not be made by Toys for Bob, but instead will be developed by Vicarious Visions makers of last years mega hit Skylanders Swap Force. Most of us die hard fans already had this knowledge, but it is good to know that the rumor seems to be true. Due to the sale of over 240 million toys since the Skylanders Game was released in 2011 generating over 3 billion in retail sales, Activision has stated that they have out sold every toy line released in 2014 making it the Number 1 selling toy in the world. You may remember me mentioning Skylanders being the #1 children’s console game of 2014. As well as receiving another #1 console game rating with the release of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. With the tremendous amount of sales Activision will not only be releasing a new Skylanders game, but according to the Activision 4th quarter company report there will also be a new Call of Duty game and a 3rd expansion of Destiny.
What will the new game be called? What will it be about? Who will be in it? Man so questions are coming to me now… hope I can get some more info in the months to come. Are you excited to hear that there will be another game coming? What are your guesses about what the new ‘gimmick’ will be? Let me know in the comment section. Be sure to check us out on all of our social networks. Oh I have a small announcement to make. For those of you that have followed the Skylander Addicts journey the original website is coming back with a brand new look. I’m pretty excited to bring the original Skylander Addicts site back. I want to know what are some changes you would like me to make before I republish the site? I want to continue to grow our awesome fold and what better way to do so than to have your help. Without you I wouldn’t be able to do any of this and for that I am grateful and thankful to have the friendship of all of you. Until next time “Catch you on the SKYSIDE!”
Evening Skylander Addicts! Got a bit of info for our UK readers.
After a call from my friend who works at Toys R Us today I flew straight over to grab myself a bargain, get some images, and info to share with you all!
The first thing I noticed at my local store was that there was a nice amount of light and dark element packs in stock. If you still need one contact your local store you may get lucky. They also have a ton of traps in stock as you can see in the image.
I then saw that the Skylanders Swap Force Island Fun-Play Hide-Away Play-sets are on clearance at £17.99 that is a steal! The Swap Force Flynn’s Airship Play-set is £14.99 another great bargain if you’re looking for one!!
The best deal of the day for me was being able to take advantage of the 7 inch Android Swap Force Tablet sale. They are on clearance for ONLY £19.99!!! Such a great deal I had to grab one for me self and the wife.
You can get the play sets online at toysrus.co.uk, but the Tablet deals are in store only so call around to see if there are anymore in stock in your area. Be quick because once they are gone they are gone! Good Luck and Happy Hunting! Hope you can get out there and grab yourself a bargain.
I happened to see a post about the Vicarious Visions team playing what could potentially be the next installment in the Skylanders series. Take a look at this picture found on DarkSpyro posted by DS user fairyland.
Here are some close up shots of the screen uploaded by DS user CountMoneyBone.
Here is a close up of the game title posted on DS by the Skylander Dad under the SkylanderKids user name. Can you figure out what it says?
Lots of us have tried to figure out what the game title says. Some say Baa-ttle Island(s), some say Baa-tle Land(s), which is what I thought it said when I first looked at it. After looking at it some more and seeing the post from the Skylanders Dad I’m pretty convinced it says Baa-ttle Flag. Skylanders Dad speculates that this could be a capture the flag style of game using the sheep as the flag. It makes perfect sense to me and even more sense that if this is released it will be a spin-off or mobile app.
As you can see from the images it seems that it is a two player multiplayer game as there are two game screens. Some have rumored that it could be a PC release, but after I looked at the photo more the VV employees are using XBOX controllers the game is just set up next to a set of computers. I don’t think that this will be a PC release, but I also am not to sure that this will be Skylanders 5 either. Here are my reasons…
- Look at the game logo there are no elements in the title, which leads me to believe that this is a potential Skylanders Spin-Off game.
- It looks like a first person shooter something like Plant vs Zombies Garden Warfare. All other Skylanders titles had a toy tie in or gimmick (Giants big toys, Swap Force Swap-Ability, Trap Team Trap aspect). Where is the gimmick? I refuse to believe the new gimmick would be sheep.
- And finally, I don’t see a portal or a toy being used. So you are telling me they are going to phase out the toys and portal all together? So not likely.
If this game ever sees the light of day I think it will be released as a mini game, a spin-off title (not Skylanders 5), or be released much like Battle Grounds or Cloud Patrol as a mobile app where the toy can be linked, but are not necessary to play the game Skylanders can be purchased through the game app.
Either way I’m excited to see new ideas are being explored with the Skylanders franchise. I think spin-off games could be a fresh breathe of life for the series. Could you imagine Skylanders fighter games, racing games like Mario Kart, Party games like Mario Party, man the list can go on. Whatever Actvision, VV, and TFB have up their sleeve we know it is going to be amazing and I can’t wait to see if this idea makes the cut and flourishes into another epic chapter in Skylanders history. Special thanks to everyone that shared images or posted about this topic on DarkSpyro. Until next time I’ll catch you all on the SKYSIDE!
