This is exciting news for me and I am sure most of you portal masters and addicts out there that love this franchise as much as I do. For years now we have wanted to see an animated movie or series of the Skylanders. There had been rumors that Activision was planning to release something, but the rumor was quickly nipped in the bud. Sadly we thought it would never happen as they said they were not interested in anything other than making the game. Then we got Skylanders comic books which in my opinion are freaking BOOMTASTIC! Naturally one could assume there would be a TV series or something coming. Well today our prayers have been answered by the Sky Gods!
There is not much information about the series except that it will be called Skylanders Academy. It will be the first project released by the new Activision Blizzard Studios Film & TV Company. They did give us a list of voice actors that will be voicing the Skylanders.
“Skylanders™ Academy” will feature the voices of Justin Long (“Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Ask Me Anything”) as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale (“Phineas and Ferb,” “High School Musical”) as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks (“Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul”) as Eruptor and Norm Macdonald (“Saturday Night Live”) as Glumshanks. Additional voice talent includes Harland Williams and Richard Horvitz.
The series is now in production so I hope that we will get to see the new show by summer of 2016 (fingers crossed).
Take a look at the official pre release on the Activision website to get a bit more details on what we can expect from Activision Blizzard Studios. I will keep you all updated with more info on this topic as I get it. Do you think that the Skylanders cartoon will be good? Are you excited? Take the poll and leave a comment let us know what your thoughts are. Until next time I’ll catch you on the SKYSIDE!
Skylanders isn’t the only thing coming! Duty Calls! LJ Out!
I recently saw this on the Previews website and thought I would share it with you all. Comic book shops around the world will be celebrating Halloween ComicFest 2015. What is Halloween ComicFest? It is basically Free comic book day in the fall. There is a great selection of titles to choose from this year. The best part for us Skylanders Addicts is that an IDW Skylanders Mini-Comic will be included in this years celebration.
This issue reprints a special selection from the Skylanders: Light in the Dark storyline featured in Skylanders Volume 4 coming next month! Want to know more about Halloween ComicFest 2015 and get a preview of the mini comic? Click the link below. Until next time I’ll catch you on the SKYSIDE!

When Activision first announced that vehicles would be the gimmick of the latest installment of Skylanders I just knew RC racers would be coming it just made sense and I was right. The NYKO company who is responsible for making all kinds of third-party accessories for video games has teamed up with Activision and created some really awesome looking Skylanders Superchargers themed RC race cars.
So far only two of the race cars are available to order via GameStop’s online store. The RC cars look like the vehicles we play with in the game. The Skylander that owns the vehicle is seen in the driver’s seat for example Fiesta and Crypt Crusher are used in the game to create a Supercharged vehicle and they are also used to create these sweet looking RC racers. The other character available is Spitfire and Hot Streak. They are $29.99 each which isn’t to bad of a price for an RC, but what I want to know is how they function? Are they hard to control? Can they do tricks like some of the really cool RC racers? Are they durable? Kids will be crashing these things into walls left and right will they crumble after one or two crashes forcing us to have to get a replacement? Or will they stand the test of time?
I’m going to be getting both of these cars not only to review, but to play around with my son we both love toys and cars. Definitely will be having some fun with these. I am hoping that we don’t just get RC Race Cars, but also get a helicopters, planes, bikes and boats. That way we can also get a chance to use the Land, Sea, and Air concept with the RC’s. If you are interested in owning a set of these just click this trusty link right here (Fiesta) and here (Spitfire). Until next time I’ll catch you on the SKYSIDE!
To celebrate the arrival of Skylanders SuperChargers and the addition of racing to the franchise, Skylanders became the official partner of racing champion Max Chilton for the season finale of Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires.
Chilton, a 24-year-old former Formula 1 driver and fan of the Skylanders franchise, blazed the tracks of Laguna Seca in a Skylanders-themed race car on September 12-13.
“SuperCharged” Chilton shattered Tony Kaanan’s 1997 track record in the qualifying race, broke the race lap record set by Helio Castroneves in 1996 and ended the season on the Indy Lights podium for Carlin.
Skylanders also “SuperCharged” Enea Bastianini from the Gresini Racing Team to take the win at the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini GP in Italy, his first career victory in the Moto 3 World Championship. Bastianini will take to the track again in his Skylanders SuperChargers-branded race suit at the Aragon Grand Prix in Spain onSeptember 25-27.
Skylanders SuperChargers Racing, a complementary racing experience, will be available on September 20 for Nintendo’s Wii™ system for $74.99 MSRP and the Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system for $64.99 MSRP. The addition of Donkey Kong and Bowser as guest stars in the new game, along with their specially created vehicles, will be available exclusively in Skylanders SuperChargers and Skylanders SuperChargers Racing Starter Packs for the Nintendo platforms. The SuperCharged characters not only work in Skylanders SuperChargers, but will also work with select amiibo-compatible Nintendo games with a simple twist of the character’s base.

These awesome shots were shared with me from my bud in the land of OZ. Thanks Justin once again you are the man! Are you excited about playing the racing mode of the new game? I know I am can’t wait to play with some of you out there finally. Enjoy the images and until next time I’ll catch you on the SKYSIDE!
My name is Jessica, and I am a Skylander aficionado. I have the pleasure of spending my days with not one, not two, not even three Skylander Addicts. My husband and our three sons are all clearly Addicts. If you are keeping count, that’s four. So, what sets my husband and sons apart and makes them, like you, Addicts? Well, for us it is a multitude of different things. The first thing I can think of, I can actually get these guys excited to go shopping. If I mention wanting to go shopping it is amazing how quickly they will echo one another in their pleas to join me. Of course they want to join me; just about every store I like to shop at is in a shopping center that includes their favorite Skylander retailers. I have also been sold on the idea of driving a few towns over to go looking for new releases by being baited with promises of being able to visit stores that aren’t in our usual shopping destination. What can I say, they know my weakness.
Another thing that makes my family Addicts, and all of you too I am sure, is that you could play Skylanders 24/7 and never tire of it. My family would play this game all day, every day if you let them. I am not even sure that they would stop to eat. That’s probably my favorite thing about the game though. I love that it is something that they actually want to do together. It’s amazing—my boys can actually occupy the same air space for more than five minutes without aggravating one another if they are playing. It’s a pneumonia that can’t be explained. For, while they are engaged in the goings on of Skylands, they can get along. I also like that this is something even I, my non-gamer self, can play with the kids. Of course, I am probably not as fun as playing with dad because I require constant help, but I can play. Skylanders brings us together and for that, I am forever grateful.
As I am sure you know, being a Skylander Addict is so much more than liking a game. It’s a lifestyle. We have posters. We have clothes. We have buttons. I could go on and on. We have had themed parties and read books. Pretty much, if it has been branded with Skylanders, it can probably be located in my house. I have probably spent a small fortune feeding the addiction, but you know what? I don’t mind. There is something about the game, the characters—I just can’t say no.
SDCC 2015 kicked off in high gear this year and the fans loved it! Many companies such as Hasbro, Mattel, Disney, Lego, IDW, Funko and of course Activision once again showcased our favorite franchise and announced that we will be getting more Eon Elite figures and another Dark Edition starter pack with the release of the new game.
You can learn more about the dark edition and the Elite’s here. I added some images on the Facebook page thanks to my buddy @ziotec999 showing us some new vehicles and Skylanders. For the first time we finally get to see what Astroblast who is a Light Elemnt Skylander looks like as well as his vehicle and I must say it looks pretty sweet!
We also got a chance to see what Lava Lance Eruptor’s vehicle would like it is called the Burn-Cycle and it is BA!
Also first time images of Big Bubble Pop Fizz and his vehicle the Soda Skimmer as well as newcomer Thrillipede and his vehicle Buzz Wing.
A new combo pack is being introduced it is called a Racing Action Pack. It will include 1 – Skylander, 1 – Vehicle, and 1 – Trophy, which will give Portal Masters the ability to race with villains. As you can see from the image below the Golden Queen Trophy is included in this R.A.P.
One major thing that stuck out like a sore thumb from the images was that we will now be able to race head to head with other players and finally be able to do co-op missions with our friends now that Online Multi-Player Mode has been added.
This is BOOMTASTIC! I have prayed for an online mode as most of you have. Now that we have it I hope that they will bring back PVP mode. It would be awesome to battle other portal masters around the world see who has the best Skylanders. Only time will tell, but I’ll tell you what this has me even more excited to play this game and see what else will happen with this franchise now that we can play online.
Are you excited about the addition of an online gaming experience? Sound off in the comments or on the Facebook page. Until next time I’ll catch you on the SKYSIDE!
Hey Addicts! I think our prayers may be getting answered soon. According to Nintendo Life Activision is thinking about making a Skylanders movie! I personally would like to see a Skylanders cartoon series as well as a movie. What do you think Addicts? Would you go out and see Skylanders:The Movie if it ever were to come to theaters? I bet there would be a game based on the movie with reposed figures and new Skylanders from the film. Hopefully we fnd out sooner than later, but until then I’ll settle for an announcement about Skylandes 5 🙂
