Crash Bandicoot Coming To Skylands
Hey Addicts!
E3 has kicked off and today we should be getting some more Skylanders info. Some images and other things have leaked all over the internet. The biggest leak that has had Portal Masters in a frenzy is that the beloved fan favorite Crash Bandicoot is coming to Skylands. The Italian Skylanders site added a Crash tab to there page leaking the secret that crash would be a Playstation exclusive.
Following in the footsteps of Nintendo and the “SKYMIIBO” figures Playstation is getting one of there own. Hopefully they will also work like the Amiibo Skylanders with the switchable base. We don’t have much details on this starter pack or what element Crash will be but once we do I’ll be sure to post about it.
We also have learned the names of the images of the the other Skylanders Imaginators we have been seeing. But this time we are seeing them in toy form Ambush who is a Life Knight, Ember who is a Fire Sentinel, and we now have an image of the regular version of Wolfgang who is a Dark Bowslinger.
I really can’t wait to see what other news we get today stay tuned for more updates as I get them. Are you excited about Crash coming to Skylands? Who else would you like to see come to Skylands? Leave your comments here or sound off on our social media pages. Thanks to Dotty and the crew at The United Sites of Skylands for keeping me updated. Until next time I’ll catch you on the SKYSIDE!
Beginner’s Guide To Collecting Skylanders Holiday And Seasonal Variants
Hey Addicts!
A little while back Activision announced the release of more holiday variants Frightful Fiesta just in time for the Halloween season and Happy (Easter Bunny) Thrillipede.
Which got me to thinking about all the holiday variants that have been released thus far. Some were not well accepted and had become shelf warmers, while others are in the rare and hard to find category.
I decided to put together a quick reference guide for all of you that are just jumping into the Skylanders universe and or just maybe wondering how many holiday variants have been released thus far.
So without further ado I present to you Skylander Addicts Beginner’s Guide To Collecting Skylanders Holiday And Seasonal Variants.
Variant
So what is a variant? A variant is a version or form of something that differs in some way from other forms of the same thing.
Comic books, magazines, toys and even food products have been known to have different flavors or packaging of the same product.
For example for those of you that have been reading the Skylanders comic book series you have noticed that there are always two different covers with every issue. One is the regular cover and the other is the variant cover.
Normally there is no difference content wise between the books. They are just done in different color schemes, are drawn by different artists, or have some sort of theme/gimmick attached to them.
Holiday Variant
A holiday variant is a variant that has a holiday theme attached to it. For example Halloween Oreo’s they are just regular Oreo’s with orange cream and Halloween packaging making it a variant or holiday edition of Oreos.
Seasonal Variant
A seasonal variant is very similar to a holiday variant sometimes a holiday variant is also considered a seasonal variant. A seasonal variant has a seasonal theme attached to it. For example Football, Baseball, winter, spring, etc. you get the point.
Skylanders Holiday and Seasonal variants began with the Giants series and have been apart of the franchise since. Below is a list of all the holiday variants that have been released thus far.
Pumpkin Eye Brawl
Pumpkin Eye-Brawl was released late after the Giants game was released. It is labeled as a Halloween Edition figure, but it was released in early September right before Swap-Force was released.
It was the first holiday variant introduced to the Skylanders series. This figure was available in most stores and was said to have a limited quantity, but for some reason it lingered around for a while after its release.
Personally I think it was because it is not an in-game variant meaning the variant figure does not show up as a variant in the Skylanders game. Instead it looks like regular Eye-Brawl but is listed as a special figure when placed into play.
Easter Edition Legendary Lightcore Chill
This was the first Easter Edition figure released only overseas in the UK. The only difference between this version and the regular version is the packaging. The figure is exactly the same as the one released at Toys R Us stores.
This figure is very hard to find. The only way to add this figure to your collection is by trading with another collector or finding it online by chance.
Halloween/Pumpkin Fright Rider
Halloween or Pumpkin Fright Rider was apart of the Skylanders Frito-Lay promotion. To take part in the promotion you had to acquire a game code by way of purchasing a specially marked bag of Frito Lays chips or requesting a game code by way of self-addressed stamped envelope.
It was pretty much impossible to not win a figure when the promotion started. After a bunch of people leaked code info and the codes became available to pretty much anybody winning became a lot harder.
If you didn’t get your hands on one of these during the promotion the only way to get one now is from a third-party seller and some of them are asking for crazy prices so shop at your discretion as always.
Jolly Bumble Blast
Jolly Bumble Blast was the Swap Force holiday variant released during Christmas of 2013. It was available at all retailers, but there was a very limited quantity.
When it was originally released it was easy to add him to your collection. Now that it has sold out in stores you will have to go the second-hand route.
Springtime Trigger Happy
Springtime Trigger Happy was included in the first seasonal/holiday set of variants released in the Swap Force series. This figure hit stores Easter of 2014 along with Fryno and Punk Shock.
It was not a store exclusive so it was readily available on shelves of different retailers.
Flocked Springtime Trigger Happy
Now this is a gem in the Skylanders world. This is one special variant for a few reasons. It was first brought to our attention as a Target promotion in Australia.
They gave away 25 of them. It later was a Toys R Us promotion in the US with only one figure per store. Some stores didn’t even receive it! If you were lucky enough to get it in store you were one happy camper that day.
The coolest thing about this figure besides it being fuzzy is that it’s the first variant of a variant. No other figure like it has been released since. A boxed version of this figure has also been spotted.
Easter/Spring Edition Fryno
There is nothing special about this figure except the packaging. He looks exactly like the figure that was released in the regular Swap Force packaging. You can still find these hanging around in some Walgreens and 5 Below stores.
Easter/Spring Edition Punk Shock
Released along side Springtime Trigger Happy and Fryno this figure only appeared in store in its Easter package for a long time. It later was released in a regular single pack. If you are a completest you probably own them both (I know I do). She recently has been found in her regular packaging at 5 Below stores.
Kickoff Countdown
Kickoff Countdown was a variant that came out during the 2014 World Cup.
This is not a holiday variant, but instead it is a seasonal variant not really much of a difference though as they both celebrate something.
When this variant was first released they were everywhere heck here in Ohio you may still find a straggler lying around, but for the most part they can only be found in the second-hand market.
Winterfest Lobstar
Winterfest Lobstar was the first holiday/seasonal figure released with Trap Team. He is the Christmas variant as most of you can guess from the name. Surprisingly he was a shelf warmer for a little while not sure why as it a really cool variant.
Maybe it was because he isn’t a very popular character. He is the only Trap Master to receive a Holiday make over in the series.
Love Potion Pop Fizz
This figure was released to celebrate Valentines Day of 2015. This is one of my favorite variants I love the color scheme and it just fit the character perfectly.
You can still find this figure in store at Toys R Us and other retailers like Walmart, but not heavily in stock so get it while you can.
Eggscellent Weeruptor
This is my favorite of all the variants for a few reasons one I love the fire element and two Weeruptor is freaking awesome! The colors used on this variant and the name was an instant win in my book.
This figure was released in a set including Power Punch Pet Vac (another mini) and a trap to celebrate spring and the 2015 Easter Holiday, so this is both a seasonal and holiday variant.
Not only are the figures and trap different they also come in a special Easter themed packaging. These were not exclusive to any store when they were released. You may get super lucky and find a stray hanging around somewhere, but your best bet in finding this is on EBay or Amazon.
Power Punch Pet Vac
As I stated above this is the other mini released in the spring/Easter set. He was thought be released in a red and gold color scheme from the promotional image that was posted online.
We got a surprise when it officially released as it was not red and gold, but red and black. Many of us wondered why they chose to change the colors it is still a mystery to this day. Power Punch and Eggscellent are the only minis to receive a variant makeover.
Earth/Bunny Trap
This is the only trap to receive a holiday/seasonal variant makeover in the Trap Team series. Colored to look like a bunny this was the coolest trap to be released next to the legendary traps. I would say that this is a hard to find item now but when it was released they were everywhere.
Well folks we have come to the end of the road. I hope this helps you out in some way, shape or form. I’ll be adding this info to a reference page in the future so that you can use it at anytime and not have to scroll through posts or look through the archives.

MAILLLLLLL! Surprise Package
Hey Addicts!
I went to collect the mail and noticed I had a surprise package from Activision I didn’t know what it was, but boy was I stoked to see what it was when I opened the package. Check out what was inside…
Yes! Love Potion Pop Fizz the official Valentine’s Day Skylanders Toy for Skylanders Trap Team. So have you been wondering how Pop Fizz turned into Love Potion Pop Fizz? Well I happen to have to scoop…
It is said that when his latest attempt to concoct the ultimate raspberry soda totally backfired, Pop Fizz was caught in a blast that turned him pink and gave him an alluring aroma. At least that’s how he tells it. But with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, the Skylanders are wondering if Pop Fizz is telling the truth… or if there is a special someone who he is trying to impress.
I wonder who Pop Fizz could be trying to get some affection from? Guess we will have to wait and see. Currently Target is the only retailer with it shelved, but Best Buy will release him on 02/01 and Toys R Us on 02/07. For all our UK readers he can also be pre-ordered at your local GAME store. Good Luck Hunting! Until next time catch you on the SKYSIDE!
Love Potion Pop Fizz Sighted On The West Coast
Hey Addicts!
Looks like we will be seeing our second holiday themed Skylander appear in stores soon. Love Potion Pop Fizz has been seen in California in store. Unfortunately, they are not able to be sold as they are street dated for 2/1/2015. I found a few images posted on DS and Instagram of what Love Potion will look like in package and out. I think he looks great and can’t wait to add him to my collection. What do you think about him? Will you be adding him to your collection? I think he will be readily available so no need to stress about not being able to get him, but just to be on the safe side get him as soon as you can. Until next time I’ll catch you on the SKYSIDE!
Are You Ready For Skylanders Day?
Hey Addicts!
This shouldn’t be new news, but for those of you that don’t know tomorrow January 10, 2015 is Skylanders Day at GameStop stores in the US. Are you still looking for the Light and Dark Packs? Well you can save $10 if you buy both packs at the event tomorrow. You can also save $5 on the Eon’s Elite Figures, so if you’re still in need of adding Terrafin and Stealth Elf to your Elite collection now would be a good time to get them and any of the other Elite figures you may be missing. There are some other great sales going on as well like save $30 on Starter Packs and Skylanders Trap Team Traps for 99 cents with the purchase of a Trap Master. The first 20 customers will receive a new Skylanders Mini Comic Pack with a 2 sided poster included. The GameStop exclusive Lob Goblin Rocket Light Trap will also be available, but stock is limited so make sure to get there early to get what you need.
Now I know that GameStop has had a sale going on all week on Skylanders merchandise, but tomorrows sale is for one day only. Unfortunately, all the advertised sales are “in-store” only. (sorry online shoppers) The images you see are from the email you should have received for the event if you are apart of the GameStop Skylanders Club. I have waited to get my Light Traps and Elite figures just so I could take advantage of this sale. I’ll be there bright and early so I can get in and get out, then have some breakfast with the family. Happy Hunting and Good Luck! Until next time catch you on the “SKYSIDE!”
Skylander Addicts 2014 Review
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 270,000 times in 2014. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 12 days for that many people to see it.

Light & Shadow Figures Available For PreOrder?
Hey Addicts!
Looks like the long-awaited Light and Dark (Shadow) element figures will be released soon. I think the UK and other overseas Portal Masters may see these before US Portal Masters unfortunately. According to myskylanders.de both Expansion Packs are or were available for pre-order through amazon.de (I can’t find a link at this time) If they become available again you can choose to pre-order both the packs (€ 29.99 ea.) through amazon as they deliver to the US or just wait until they are released here in the US.
Take a look at the images in the gallery below to get a closer look at what the packaging and toys look like. I have ordered from amazon.de before and have had no issues, but still I think I may wait until they come to the US. What Expansion pack do you want the most? Let me know in the comment section. Thanks to myskylanders.de for sharing the info with us. Well Good Luck Hunting Portal Masters and until next time I’ll catch you on the SKYSIDE!
