Let’s Talk Battlecast!
Hey Addicts!
As some of you may already know Battlecast is coming real soon! Thanks to Skylanders Inquirer, Dark Spyro, and a few other Skylanders blogs we have a little more info about what we can expect to receive once we purchase our first batch of cards. Here is a break down of the game thus far.
First thing to note is that there will be over 270 cards to collect. That is just to much power for one portal master to handle LOL! There are 4 card categories:
- Character Cards-Used to summon Skylanders to cast spells or attack.
- Spell Cards-Used to cast spells (of course).
- Gear Cards-Used to upgrade your Skylander.
- Relic Cards- Used to change the gameplay.
In the tradition of card games there is a rarity scale, a 4 level rarity scale to be exact.
Common, Rare, Epic, and Ultimate are the levels the cards will be broken down into.
The cards will be packaged for purchase in two ways. You can buy the Booster Packs which include 8 cards not sure if there is a guaranteed rare card included as of yet, but I’m sure there will be. Or you can buy the Battle Packs that includes 22 cards, and a ‘Trading Shield’.
What the Heck is a Trading Shield? I asked myself the same question. Well according to Skylanders Inquirer a ‘Trading Shield’ is used to trade cards, post pictures of your cards, etc. because once the cards are scanned into the game via the code on the edge of the card. The card becomes non-transferable the shield also protects your code from being used when you do share.
The price of each pack has not been stated for us here in the US, but going by the price Skylanders Inquirer stated they were $7.99 NZD (approx. $5.45 USD) for the Booster Packs and $16.99 (approx. $11.64 USD) for the Battle Packs.
I am guessing the price will be between $5.99 to $6.99 USD for the Boosters and $11.99 to $12.99 USD for the Battle Packs. We will have to wait a bit longer for a definitive answer.

I can’t wait to start playing this! I already play Hearthstone and Battlecast is just a kid friendly version of that game, so I think I’ll enjoy it just as much. If you are a Hearthstone player you know what I mean. With Activision buying the MLG organization will we see a worldwide Battlecast Tournament? That would be BOOMTASTIC!!!
