Since all the news has poured out lately there have been a lot of speculation and complaints about the new game I wanted to discuss a few things I have seen around the web.
First and foremost there is no series 4 repose of Spyro why?
Well think about guys the only game that truly was centered around Spyro was the original Skylanders game. After that the other Skylander games were not focused on Spyro hence why we have seen less of him. We do get a mini and elite version of him so isn’t that enough?
Where are all the other Skylanders like Trigger Happy & Stealth Elf?
In previous games we have seen reposes of the characters we have grown to know and love, but this time around there are only a few. I for one am not upset about this change in the game there were beginning to be to many of the same character being made in my opinion. And from the looks of things Activision felt the same way. I think we will see some of them in the Elite series (Trigger Happy, Spyro, Whirlwind, and Chop Chop Confirmed) we already have some of them in mini form as well.
What happened to biggest release ever?
Uh? What are you looking at? The poster image that has been released clearly shows a lot more figures than any other release including the traps they’re a ton of new playable characters. We are getting 16 New Trap Masters, 16 Minis (8 New ones), 16 New Core Skylanders, 5 Reposes (That we know of could be more), 10 Super Villains, and 36 regular Villains that’s a total of 46 Villains! Not to mention that there seems to be 4 other unknown characters that could be introduced as new elements. That being said relax what more do you want? Anymore and this would be the last game and who wants that!
Where are the Lightcore Skylanders?
They will not be making an appearance this go around from the looks of it. I am actually pretty cool with that I think all the Skylanders should have some sort of Lightcore function instead of singling out a choice few. Besides with Traps, Minis, and Elite figures being released I think that would really be milking the franchise.
Do I need to get all these traps?
Yes! If you are an addict, but no if your budget isn’t that big this year you only need one for each element as you can trap more than one villain and save them in the Vault (New function coming to Trap Team).
Why no real news about the 3DS version? And where are the Traps?
I’m not really sure why there hasn’t been much talk about the 3DS version, but I think that the release of the Tablet version and the Amiibo figures by Nintendo may have something to do with it. Some have said that there are no traps in the 3DS version due to the picture floating around with Gusto and no traps. Well according to the Toys R Us website there is a 3DS version and it does come with traps. The 3DS version will come with 1 portal, 2 Skylanders, and 2 Traps.
Will all the figures from the earlier games be compatible?
Of course which is why we are not seeing a lot of them return this go around. But just like in other games the new figures will not be able to be played on the previous versions.
Ok guys hope this helps with some of the questions and gripes you have. I honestly am over excited to play the new game this to me is the most exciting game yet we get to play as Kaos and other villains I have wanted to do that since I first played this game. Now finally mine and I’m sure some of your dream has come true. Check out the poster below to get a closer look at the new Skylanders. Until next time catch you on the SKYSIDE!

Skylanders Trap Team
Developed by Toys for Bob, creators of the Toys-to-Life™ phenomenon,Skylanders Trap Team reverses the magic of its signature play pattern — letting kids take villains out of the digital world and transport them into the physical world, where they are captured in magical Traps — bringing both Toys-to-Life and life to toys. Fans can then play as both heroes and villains who join the forces of good in an all-new adventure.
Fans attending Gamescom will get a special Skylanders® treat — the first hands-on opportunity to play Skylanders Trap Team with a new line of cute, pocket-sizedSkylanders characters, called Skylanders Minis. Sixteen of the smallest but surprisingly powerful Skylanders are now joining the fight against Skylands’ most nefarious villains. Diminutive in stature but mighty in battle, Skylanders Miniswill deliver a full Skylanders wallop as completely playable characters with upgrades and abilities, just like any other Skylanders, including the ability to trap villains.
At Gamescom, visitors in the Gamescom Family Area ((Hall 10.2) — who are “mini” enough to enter the smallest booth Activision has ever built — will be able to play with the new Minis. Only those that meet the Skylanders Mini booth’s required height restrictions will get the chance to be the first in the world to play with five of the new Minis: Spry, Mini Jini, Drobit, Trigger Snappy and Hijinx. Visitors to the Family area will also have the chance to visit the Skylanders photo booth, where fans can be photographed as if they’ve been ‘trapped’ in Traptanium, just like the infamous villains in the game.
Ahead of Gamescom, Activision also announced that it is bringing the completeSkylanders Trap Team videogame to tablets at launch, marking the first time a fullSkylanders game will be available on iOS, Android and Kindle Fire tablet devices day-and-date with the console version. The tablet version of the game delivers the same experience, with console-quality graphics[i] and high performance game controls as its console counterpart, delivering yet another significant technological leap to the Skylanders franchise. It is playable with touch controls or a Bluetooth® enabled controller that comes with the tablet Starter Pack.
Skylanders Trap Team will be available on October 10 in Europe, October 5 in North America and October 2 in Australia/New Zealand on the following platforms: a variety of iOS, Android and Kindle Fire tablets; Xbox One and Xbox 360 games and entertainment systems from Microsoft; PlayStation 4 system; PlayStation 3 system; Nintendo’s Wii™ system and Nintendo’s Wii U™ system. A different, unique adventure also will be available on the Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system.
Looks like it is going to be an awesome event I would love to be able to play with the little guys I’m excited to see that they no longer just follow you around and that they get to be upgraded just like regular Skylanders. I hope we will get more Skylanders minis in the future as more games are released. Are you excited about the new minis? Let me know by leaving a comment. There are some awesome images in the gallery of new characters and toys check them out at your leisure. Until next time catch you on the SKYSIDE!
Looks like Activision & Toys for Bob have a trick up there sleeve. Just when we thought there couldn’t be anything cooler than the up coming release of Skylanders Trap Team we get hit with the announcement of a tablet version of the game set to be released at the same time as the console version. Now you can play the mobile games and same version that you will have on your console on the go! Check out the press release I got his morning with all the sweet info!

WITH CONSOLE VERSION
SANTA MONICA, Calif. – AUGUST 12, 2014 – Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI) announced today that it will bring the complete Skylanders Trap Team video game to tablets[i] at launch, marking the first time a full Skylanders® game will be available on iPad®, Kindle Fire and Android tablets day-and-date with the console version. The tablet version of the game delivers the same experience with console-quality graphics i[ii] and comes with its own high performance controller, delivering yet another significant technological leap to the Skylanders franchise.
The Skylanders Trap Team Tablet Starter Pack will include a Bluetooth® Traptanium Portal; an embedded Bluetooth® controller to provide the best gameplay experience possible; a built-in tablet stand; two Skylanders characters; two Traps and a display tray that lets Portal Masters keep track of the Traps they’ve collected and which villains they have trapped.
“Skylanders has become an incredibly appealing brand and franchise for kids around the world. And the tablet has become an incredibly appealing gaming platform for kids around the world. But we haven’t been able to bring the fullSkylanders experience to the tablet until now,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. “We always want to deliver breakthrough experiences, and we also always want to be wherever gamers want to play. This is a chance for us to bring the magic of Skylanders to a whole new platform and audience. Whether you want to sit on the couch and play with the wireless controller, or play on the go using just the tablet itself, this provides a great experience for gamers.”
Skylanders Trap Team brings a ground-breaking innovation to the Skylandersfranchise by reversing the magic of its signature Toys-To-Life™ play pattern to let kids bring life to toys. Skylanders Trap Team allows Portal Masters to seek out the most wanted villains in all of Skylands, defeat them and pull them out of the game into their living rooms by capturing them in magical Traps. Fans can then play as both heroes and villains who join the forces of good in an all-new adventure. Now, for the first time in franchise history, fans can experience a full Skylanders game on the go, wherever and whenever they want.
The tablet version of Skylanders Trap Team upholds the same gameplay-driven adventure as the console version with console-quality graphics,[ii] complete with lush, expansive environments that push the technological boundaries of select tablet devices. Like the console version of the game, all toys will be cross-platform compatible, with all skills and upgrades intact.
Skylanders Trap Team on tablet can be experienced two different ways:
- “Controller” — Fans can play the game just like the console version using the Bluetooth Traptanium Portal and toys with the custom BluetoothSkylanders game controller included in the Tablet Starter Pack.
- “Touch Controls” – For players who prefer to use touch controls instead of a controller, fans have the option to play the game just using on-screen touch controls.

A different, unique adventure also will be available on the Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system.
I’m excited to play this version of the game the touch control feature sounds fun. I love the innovative nature Activision has when it comes to wowing the fans of this franchise. Now that there will be a tablet version of the game will we finally get a multi-player/co-op option in the Split screen, no tethering, something? I surely hope so. Guess we will have to wait and see as they keep unveiling more info as it gets closer to release. Check out the pictures in the gallery at your leisure. So what do you guys think about this sweet news? Will you be getting this version of the game come release day as well? Let’s me know in the comments section or by taking the poll. This looks interesting I will have to check this out next year.
Whenever fellow bloggers ask about which conferences I am or am not going to, or when asked if I’ll be at Blogher I joke that I’m allergic to those kind of conferences. The truth is I won’t break out into hives at one of the big blogger conferences, but at this moment in time for me as a person, a mother, and a blogger I just don’t think I am ready to participate fully. Last week I went to Blogger Bash which integrated speakers, brands, philanthropy and bloggers into a jam-packed two day event in NYC.
Although I’m still terrible at the networking and schmoozing part, I managed to do a little and get a lot out of the event. Blogger Bash was divided into several parts. There was the VIP experience, followed by Sweet…
